GIVEAWAY {Whimsy Lane}

Isn’t that a cute name, Whimsy Lane?  Well, the creator of that esty shop, Lauren, is equally adorable and has recently started selling her personally-sewn wares, including zippered pouches (perfect for makeup, I think), checkbook covers, coaster sets, earrings, camera strap covers, wristlets, poppies and crayon wraps (she even gifted me one for James!)  He’s a little more interested in eating the crayons right now, so I’m holding off a little while longer to give it to him).  But I do see myself tucking that crayon wrap into my purse to keep him occupied at restaurants very soon!

Lauren uses designer fabric including Heather Bailey and Amy Butler. Her prices are super inexpensive AND she doesn’t charge for shipping.

I found Lauren through her blog and fell in love with her cutie pie 2-year old son.  I wanted to host this giveaway for her to help support her new business.  She’s had 15 sales so far, but I know we can get her way more!  I asked Lauren to tell you a little about herself and here’s what she told me:

Fabric inspired me to start sewing. I bought my first machine on a whim one day and taught myself how to sew from online tutorials. The only thing I've ever been shown is how to thread the needle and bobbin. Everything else was trial and error.

I love to use prints that might be too loud to wear, even though we're attracted to them- a crazy print that might be too risky as clothing, can be super cute in a zippered pouch. It gives us a reason to get excited over colors and patterns again even though we're grown ups. That's what I love about the little things I sew.

I named my shop and blog Whimsy Lane after a summer in my home state of Michigan, while in a sweet little beach town called Ludington where all the roads are lined with greenery and hydrangeas. It's just...whimsical, like a page from a storybook. I also try to encompass whimsy into the stuff I make. I think everyone needs a little fun and whimsy in our hectic lives as moms, career women, superheroes... whatever.

Sewing is my part-time fun "job". During the day I teach 4 and 5 year olds and after school I teach my 2 year old son. After THAT I sew. That is my me time... in my little after-hours sweatshop :)  I usually sew while jamming out to Pandora on my laptop :)
