Living Room Redo (Townhouse)

When Jimmy and I began dating, he had recently purchased a new townhome in a crack-den ridden, I mean, "transitional" neighborhood. He hadn't really furnished, let alone decorated the place, unless you call having a bed, a living-room sofa set and a big-screen t.v. furnished. When we got married I got right to work in adding a woman's touch. The neighborhood has continued to improve, but we knew that when we got married that the townhouse couldn't contain us for long. For a long time we debated whether to move to the 'burbs (new construction, more square footage and bigger lots for your buck but with a nasty commute to work) or stay in the city (expensive smaller lots with older homes but convenient to work and friends) and ultimately chose the latter, but decided to build our own place in an older neighborhood so that we could get what we really wanted. We hired our friend and custom home builder, Chris Bolio, to design and build our house. We are so excited that the completion date is near; we should be moving in early July 2010!!! But back to the townhouse- below are some before and after shots of the townhouse's living room. Of course, it doesn't really look like that anymore now that we have a baby and all-things baby are everywhere, along with the laundry in its varying stages.

Isn't it amazing what paint can do?

What we did: We (mostly Jimmy) painted the living room a dark sandy beige, we rearranged the furniture, and got rid of the matchy-matchy coffee table and couch pillows. It was spring when these photos were snapped, hence the pops of yellow.
Source List
Pillows and covers: Linens-n-Things and Pottery Barn
Coffee table, 2 end tables and 2 lamps: Pottery Barn
Candles and rug (that I wish were larger and in a sisal): Crate and Barrel
Zebra painting: Z Gallerie
Clock: a gift from my parents, but I've seen similar ones at my favorite Hobby Lobby
Mirror: Pier One
Framed cross: The Arrangement
We also have brown silk curtains now on all the windows and a media center along the wall you can't see that houses our tv, books and electronics (the Logan from Pottery Barn).
We've made our first memories as husband and wife here in this townhouse and this is the home we became three in. But I'm so ready to move:)
