baby james (15 months)

Our sweet baby boy turned 15 months on June 4th.  He is just his own little guy, full of curiosity, independence, and determination.  I'm so happy that he still likes to be held, but sometimes, just as quickly, wants to be put down.  He loves to climb up onto the couch, and then climb back down.

His independence is fierce at mealtimes, so he feeds himself- no matter how messy it gets.

Nothing a little bath can't fix:)  And boy does he love the bath!  He comes running into the bathroom as soon as he hears the water running and tries to hike his leg over the tub and get in!

He's the same way with the blow-up pools.

The backyard is especially fun.  He's at that age where he loves to put something in a container, then take it back out.  Like dirt into a pan, clothes into a laundry basket, or just handing me rock and twigs from our yard.

He's go, go, go all day, but still gets tired for (usually) two naps a day (10:30 and 2:00ish).  He recently started going to bed at 7:00 instead of 6:00 since I like to spend time with him when I get home from work.

I try to keep his pacifiers in his crib, but he throws them overboard when he wakes up.  Here he is with 3- a signal to mama that he's tired!  He went down for a nap right after I snapped this pic!

And he's still all about my cell phone.  Check this out!  I'm pretty floored at how much and how quickly babies learn these things- I didn't intentionally teach him this!

And this day at the park was hilarious!  There was a little boy playing in the water fountain because the water was splashing onto the pavement.  After watching from afar for a few minutes, James joined in.  I had planned to take him out to lunch after the park, but figured that I couldn't interrupt all the soaking-wet fun he was having.  These moments are too precious.  He looks like such a little boy (as opposed to a baby!) lined up with those other boys at the water fountain!

Man, I love this little guy.  He's still singing the ABC's- getting closer to G now, and also sings, "Row, row, row" and puts his mouth in the cutest "oh" shape to sing it.  I melt.  And he loves to hide in this little spot in my closet behind my hanging scarves in my closet while I get ready.

If we're home and he doesn't see Jimmy for awhile, he runs around the house looking for him, shouting, "Da, Da!!!!" So cute!  He's also got a "wubby" a blanket and stuffed monkey that he'll carry around with him at home.

I just can't believe how well we can communicate already.  He understands so much when we talk to him.  He'll follow simple commands like, "shut the door" and "show me your belly" (that's one of his faves:)  We're working on other body parts now- I'm kinda over him lifting up my shirt to pat my belly!

He talks constantly- to anyone who will engage him.  If he catches someone's eye in the grocery store, before I know it, they're flirting and giggling with each other.  I can't take him anywhere!!  :)

Do you remember when I wrote about my friend Shelli's (a la mode maven) gorgeous home a few weeks ago?  If you didn't see it or haven't been to Shelli's blog, you are certainly in for a treat!   She's great at scouting inexpensive decor and today I'm sharing with her readers some of my frugal finds! Thanks Shelli!!
